Event Photography of Bunbury Music Festival @ Cincinnati, Ohio, Ohio | Photo by Harry Acosta Photography

You should know, music photography has ruined my ability to enjoy a show without my camera. I watch every performance and bite my lip or curse quietly to myself thinking, damn, that would have been a great shot to get. Fortunately, music fests are a great way for me to discover new music, network with other photographers I probably forgot the names of since the last time I saw them, and just people.

This was the most comfortable and confident I have felt photographing a music festival yet. I didn’t interview any bands this time, but I photographed 32 bands in 3 days It rained which delayed a few performances, but also gave us some respite from the sun. The best part? I can happily say I didn’t lose any photo cards; my batteries didn’t die; I didn’t get caught in the rain with my gear; and I didn’t lose my car keys in the muddy pit. That’s all behind me now, right? This was the best music festival experience for me so far and inadvertently the bands, fans, and management all helped make it that way for me.

Aside from the several bands I was looking forward to photograph, there were several performances I was just being introduced to here. Poppy and Bülow were two performers I added to a few playlists on Spotify. Run the Jewels are absolutely the coolest band on Earth. Reignwolf … wow!

I wrote an entertaining review of the show with ratings in several categories for each band including music, presence/fashion, energy, performance, and coolness factor. You can read the write up here.
