Excited about your photo session but need some more information? Here are the questions I get asked most often. Have a question you don’t see addressed below, Feel free to contact me directly through text, email, or phone at (614)571-0142 or photography@harryacosta.com We all run our business differently, so there is no other way you would know what to expect unless youre a returning customer.

What do I do with my hands?

Don't overthink it! I'm here to help. While you're attempting to get comfortable in front of the camera, I'll take the reigns and gradually let you take the lead if you would like. I'll allow you to pose casually and comfortably, then ask you to change it up if I see something that needs it. If you want more control, it is best to bring in samples of photography you like that we can build off to make our own.

What should I wear?

My best advice is to wear whatever makes you feel most comfortable. It will reflect in your facial expression and we will get the best photos possible. You can change in the studio, or if we're on location, I have a changing tent that takes no time to set up.

Can I bring a change of clothing? Where can I change?

Free of charge, you're permitted to bring more clothing than you think you will need! We will likely only get to 3 or 4 options, but it is better to have more than regret not having what you need. In the studio, there is space for you to change. If we’re out on location, I have a changing tent we can use to help you get changed quickly.

What is the difference between headshots and portraits?

With both headshots and portrait photography, my goal is to capture your essence in the most flattering light I can. Portraits are poses that will include full body, three quarter, and torso photos. Headshots include only torso photos. Portrait sessions include dating profile, senior portrait, couples, modeling and acting headshots. Headshot sessions are usually only for social media avatars, or business profiles.

When you book with me, portraits include a much longer session and more retouched deliverables while headshots include one retouched image of your choice. If you want many files of different poses and you need more retouched deliverables, you will want to book for a portrait session, even if you only want headshots.

How long does it take to get digital images back?

Usually only a day or 2 to get your session files back unless otherwise noted. Once you have selected those you would like retouched for your portrait, headshot, wedding, or commercial photography, it could take a week to a month to get your photos back, depending on the type of session. If you have a deadline, it is important to communicate this to me to make sure we’re on the same page.

How many prints do I get?

Prints are not included in the price of my sessions, but my lab only works with professional photographers, and I do not mark the price of these high-quality prints up. You get them for what I would pay.

How do I pay?

I will send 2 invoices to your email address. One for the deposit, and later for the remainder of the total due. You can pay through credit card, debit card, check, Zelle, Venmo, PayPal, Cash App, and a handful of other online payment options.

Where are you located?

If we have our session at the studio, I'm located downtown behind BrewDog and a few blocks from COSI. When you arrive, you should contact me so I can greet you at the purple door pictured above. Although there is no identifying signage outside, there is a large gravel lot that you can park in for free right outside of the building. I'm located at 289 WEST Walnut St., Columbus, OH 43215, but it is far more accurate to GPS "Harry Acosta Photography" as there are similar addresses not associated with me in Gahanna and Westerville. Once you arrive, you’ll want to contact me so I can let you into the building on the first floor through the purple door. If you’re outside and the door says “photo lab”, you’re on the wrong side of the building. That is a rental space for photographers. I have my own studio.

Do you have any locations you can suggest we have our session?

There are a lot of locations around the Columbus area we can shoot at for free - Inniswood Metro Gardens in Westerville has the best floral garden in the Columbus area complete with a waterfall. Homestead Park in Hilliard has a nice rustic scene with ponds and a covered bridge. The Topiary Park downtown has the most unique nature setting in Columbus. The issue with these outdoor locations is that we have to rely on good weather. Rain of course, but wind can be just as detrimental if you have long hair.

There are other indoor locations like the Franklin Park Conservatory, and a myriad of studios you can find on Peerspace where the weather will play a minimal role in our photo session, however, they all cost money to use. Even the aforementioned conservatory requires a reservation and costs $150 to bring a professional photographer along with 2 people.

Weigh your options and decide what is most important to you when envisioning your photo session. I’ll help as much as I can, but the decision is ultimately yours to make.
