It can be detrimental to meet your heroes for the disappointment you may endure in finding out more about them. I can be jaded by the truth, but I enjoy exposing fallible mortals as the bad-ass individuals they are. Frank Turner is known for his music and the number of shows he has performed worldwide since 2004. He keeps an online tally of every show date, and location. Sunday, he came to Columbus, Ohio to perform a stripped down set at one of the smaller venues in town appropriately named the Basement. Due to the pandemic, Frank is saving his full tour to support next year's new full-length release, FTHC, due Feb 11, 2021.

Frank had some time for a Zoom conversation before the show. We talked about his upcoming release, being humble enough to play what the fans came to hear, and what he hopes to be known for.

Sitting down with Frank Turner before his sold-out acoustic show at Kemba Live! (Formerly Express Live!) in Columbus, Ohio was one of those rare moments that reminds you why concert photography and music journalism matter. As a Columbus event photographer who has covered hundreds of performances, intimate settings like this one don't come around often — and Frank made every second count.

In this interview, we talked about his upcoming album FTHC, what it means to stay humble as a performer, and the legacy he hopes to leave behind. Whether you've seen Frank Turner live or are discovering him for the first time, this conversation captures the honesty and passion that has made him one of the most dedicated artists touring today.
